This Star Wars concept artwork is one of the earliest created by American graphic designer, art director, and illustrator Tom Jung. Created as a concept for the Style A poster, the menacing helmet of Darth Vader in the background evolved into the final Style A key art, as there were multiple attempts made to visualize the battle of good over evil, with and without the helmet. Obi-Wan Kenobi was featured in the earliest concepts, as Alec Guinness was the only known actor at the time of filming. Over multiple months and numerous meetings with Ashley Boone, senior vice president at Twentieth Century-Fox, eventually the focus of the key art was geared to the Luke and Leia characters. An incredible piece of memorabilia relating to the creation of filmdom's most successful franchise.
