Other Notes: Jan Brett is a New York Times bestselling author and illustrator with over 40 million books in print including The Hat, The Night Before Christmas, and Town Mouse, Country Mouse. Brett studied at the Museum School in Boston and now lives and works outside of the city. "I'm an artist," Brett explains, "I try not to speak in English but in the language of art.
