Description
Utagawa Hiroshige (Japanese, 1797-1858). 2 woodblock Ukiyo-e prints from the series "Famous Sights of the Fifty Three Stations" also know as "Vertical Tokaido". No.1: "Nihonbashi, View of Dawn Cloud". No.22: "Okabe, Narrow Ivy Covered Road at Mount Utsu". Both signed and dated 1858 in the lower left. Published by Tsutaya Kichizo, publishers mark in the bottom left corner. Both prints matted and framed behind glass. Discoloration to the top right of Nihonbashi bridge print. Examined out of frame: foxing to the paper, cropped edges. Sight: 13" H x 8 5/8" W. Frame: 20" H x 14 1/2" W.
