Description
Two Aboriginal Story Boards (tjurunga or churinga) Australia, early 20th century Hardwood, the larger finely carved on one side in geometric pattern and diagonal in-fill; the smaller covered with red ocher natural pigment. In good condition, probably original as collected, minor losses on edges; the larger with dark brown stain on wide end. Provenance: Collected by Valentine Pasvolsky of Lakewood, NJ between 1930-1970 Lengths: 23 ¼ and 26 ½ inches
