Description
Jean Harlow's Personally Owned Monogrammed Cream Satin Floor Length Robe W/COA and Letter of Provenance - This lovely satin robe was personally owned by American actress and "Blonde Bombshell", Jean Harlow. The floor length robe is crafted of cream satin with lace trim and has "JH" embroidered at the left chest. Jean Harlow signed with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1932 where she quickly became a leading lady, and her popularity rivaled and soon surpassed that of her MGM colleagues such as Joan Crawford and Norma Shearer. She was also ranked as the 22nd greatest female star of classic Hollywood cinema by The American Film Institute. The robe comes with a two-page certificate of authenticity from collector Sally Cramier, whose mother was good friends with Harlow's agent and friend Arthur Landall. The letter states in part, "During his long affair with my mother he would often bring her one of Jean's nightgowns, robes or trinkets and insist that she 'keep it'". The lot will also come with a letter of provenance from Richard Wilson of Norma's Jeans, who obtained the piece from Sally Cramier.
