Description
These are beautiful antique engravings imported from France. Each is from a different artist, one by Antoine Louis Romanet after an Sigmund Freudenberger called Le Lever (Get Up) with a poem about having to wake up (very loosely translated) and the other was engraved by Charles Emmanuel Patas after Charles Eisen and is La Nuit (The Night) about wedding night love (also very loosely translated). It is a bit risque which is something Eisen had been known to create. Each has been framed in gold gilt neoclassical revival frames and have the original import stickers on the back. Both frames measure 13.5" x 17.5".
Condition
Each appear in excellent condition for age with the Romanet piece having some fading. Â
