Description
This exceptional Enfield Shaker community mid 19th C. desk maintains a wonderful original red stained surface. It is in one piece with a super structure top containing six dovetailed drawers, bottom with three larger drawers in one end and three front facing drawers, all nicely dovetailed. Beneath the flat work surface is a sliding work surface that extends out on both the front and back side of the desk, all resting on bottle legs. 38.75”H x 30.75”W top work surface, x 27.5”D. Prov. Purchased from the Enfield Shaker Community in the 1920s by Helen Bucklin who would frequently visit the community and became close to the sisters, for the last 100 years remained in the Bucklin family
Condition
Light wear to work areas of the desk, as would be, abrasion to proper right side and front.
