Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. A gorgeous bracelet of annular form shaped by hand from nearly opaque, aubergine-hued glass that has darkened over time to exhibit a dark, almost black hue. The wide bracelet band features a gently impressed central portion that creates a corseted presentation, and both the interior and exterior surfaces have developed striking layers of silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence. Not recommended for wear due to fragility. Hairline fissure stabilized near the overlapping terminals, with one small spall on exterior, otherwise intact and very good. Beautiful iridescence and deposits on surface. Old inventory label along interior surface.
