Description
Judas Priest/K.K. Downing: A Bolt Custom 'V' guitar,
1990/1991,
bound top with brown-toned airbrushed line graphics, single Di Marzio Super Distortion pickup with volume and tone controls, Kahler tremelo, bound neck, rosewood fingerboard with diamond markers, locking nut, angled headstock with six-a-side tuners and logo inlay, in case, accompanied by letter of provenance
Footnotes:
Provenance:
Property of Ken (K.K.) Downing of Judas Priest.
Bolt operated from 1989-1991, founded in Schnecksville, Pennsylvania by Wayne Bolt and Jim Dala Pallu. They supplied necks and bodies to Kramer and BC Rich before producing their own guitars. It is thought that just 100-125 were built, including around 40 with graphics, like the example offered here. This was not stage-used but Ken Downing describes it as having a great action and 'a real player's guitar'.

Condition
General construction: Mahogany back with two Maple inserts (sometimes known as blister Maple or Pock Maple), Mahogany neck with Rosewood fingerboard
• Rosewood fingerboard is very dry and would benefit from a lemon oil conditioning treatment to restore
• The frets are in very good condition, no visible signs of wear unlike the body so it is possible the guitar has even had a maintenance fret dress or refret at some point
• The neck has a slight back bow because the truss rod is too tight, needs slackening off to bring relief in the neck/fingerboard as this will avoid string buzz against the frets
• All electrics, pickups, volume and Fender type control knobs in good order and working fine
• Angular design top is a very thin decorative veneer
• Back of the neck at the area of the 3rd fret has a dent and there are lacquer cracks on the back at the joint of the neck/body connection
• The Kahler trem is in fine working order but suggest the truss rod should be adjusted first before any use to avoid strings to choke out on frets
• Couple of dings in the lacquer on the back of the guitar including the headstock but nothing beyond general wear and tear
