The best and earliest account of the Lewis and Clark expedition. It is a first-hand account of the journals written by Lewis and Clark describing the events of their westward voyage along the Missouri River. This book includes the voyagers interactions with Native Americans and has full-page engravings of different events including prisoner burning and bison hunting.
Patrick Gass was an officer on the expedition. He includes portraits of both Lewis and Clark in this early edition.
