4 Historical Tales Wars of Scotland Books, John Lawson. This lot of volumes I-IV of The Historical Tales of the Wars of Scotland are by the minister John Parker Lawson. They date from 1849 to 1851. They have contemporary bindings, with green dyed full calf covers, gilt paneling and titles on the spines, as well as five raised bands. They have exquisite marbled endpapers. The volumes contain various narratives and engravings related to Scottish history, particularly related to war. There are no auction records found for this early edition, and other editions are scarce.


Dimensions are 6.75 in h x 4.5 in w x 1.25 in d. Condition is very good. The books have been well kept, and the binding is tight. There is no foxing. The front cover of Volume III has a stain at the bottom. The engravings have impressions on the opposite pages. Please call or email for a detailed condition report.
