Description
"Men Without Women", by Ernest Hemingway, published by Charles Scribner's Sons, New York. Second printing of the First Edition with "1928" imprinted on the title page [the 1st printing was issued in 1927], copyright 1927, Scribner's colophon without 'A' as issued, no printings stated, broken "3" on page 3. Hemingway's second collection of stories, published the year after the success of "The Sun Also Rises". The subject matter of the stories in the collection includes bullfighting, prizefighting, infidelity, divorce, and death. "The Killers", "Hills Like White Elephants", and "In Another Country" are considered to be among Hemingway's better works.

Hard boards, original smooth black cloth with gold paper labels printed in black on front cover and spine [bumped corners, a little wear]. Yellow endpapers with three deeper yellow bands centered with the silhouette of a charging bull within a circle ["Florence Lovenheim" is pen signed inside front cover]; 5.1/2" x 7.1/2". "R.H. Macy & Co. Inc." is blind stamped on top of the title page; 232 pages, very good condition.

Coming after his first collection, "In Our Time" (1925) and his successful novel, "The Sun Also Rises" (1926), "Men Without Women" helped to consolidate Hemingway's reputation as one of the major fiction writers of the 1920s.
