John Martin's masterful, sublime, and haunting illustrations depict the great moments and events of the Bible, from the Creation, Fall of Man, and Expulsion from Paradise, to the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Pharaoh's army, Babylon and Nineveh. The mezzotints are fitting companions to Martin's more famous illustrations created for Paradise Lost. A rare work in the desirable folio format.

Condition

Some mostly marginal foxing, protective guards with some offset; very good in fine, attractive modern binding.
