The first work of its kind in English, intended as an instruction to Hinduism for an English audience. Edward Moor was an early European scholar of Indian religion, and the work was illustrated with examples from Moor's own collection of Hindu artifacts, which are currently displayed in the British Museum. The present lot comprises the book with an incomplete set of plates, together with a separate volume with the complete complement of the plates - these have library rubberstamps on the versos, but image sides unblemished.
