Native American, Southwestern United States, Navajo, ca. mid-20th century CE. A silver concho and butterfly brooch with turquoise and shell inlays. The concha brooch is entirely 94.5% silver with stamped and incised decoration around the scalloped rim and central boss. The verso has a pin with a clasp that articulate. The verso is engraved with "STERLING" and the initials "CP" for an unknown artist. The other is a charming butterfly shaped brooch with curled antennae, rope twist borders, sawtooth bezels, and granulated spheres. The wings and body are inlaid with white abalone shell, turquoise, and a black stone. The verso has a pin clasp that articulates, making the piece a wearable.
