Description
Double sided press wipe, with popular background Seidmann photo of James Gurley from Big Brother. During 1967 and 1968, founder Joseph McHugh and a handful of talented folks formed the short lived East Totem West, an inventive poster and notecard company in the SF bay area. The primary purpose of East Totem West was to create art, for art's sake. These were images containing bright colors and trippy spiritual mandalas, produced simply for the optical enjoyment of the viewer. The psychedelic movement of the era fueled massive popularity in these beautiful headshop posters, and they still hold a place in the hearts of collectors today. We seldom have them available in our auctions, so this lot is a real treat.
