A RARE LATE 18TH OR EARLY 19TH CENTURY FRENCH MAMLUK OR MAMELUKE DIRK, 33cm curved flattened diamond section blade decorated with scrolling foliage and stand of arms, etched with the motto Fuyes Le bras qui me dirige and Soyes En garde ou si non, the brass hilt with recurved crossguard, scroll terminals, foliate chiselled pommel, reeded leather covered grip, contained in its engraved brass mounted leather wrapped wooden scabbard, decorated to match. At some stage a Crest has been erased from the blade.
