An Art Deco Ceramic lamp by Charles Catteau, hand painted enamel glazes produced by Boch Freres Keramis, circa 1924. Made in the “crackled enamels on ceramic” glaze so common to Catteau’s Art Deco work, the lamp base is Boch vase Pattern D745, which is described as “polychrome design with stylized gourd – fruit, leaves twigs and ribbons”. Deminsions, , condition is excellent. Charles Catteau, born at Douai, trained at the National Ceramics School in Sèvres. In 1904, he was hired by the German Nymphenburg Porcelain Factory, near Munich. In December 1906 he moved to La Louvière and started to work for Boch Frères Keramis. In 1907 he was appointed head of the Decoration Department and Workshop of Imaginative design where he stayed until 1948. While with Boch he created some of the most iconic designs in Art Deco ceramics. His works are highly sought after by collectors.
