An exquisite Italian marble relief with a depiction of a saint, late 17th centuryOval, delicately carved, detailed relief in Carrara marble, depicting St. Francis in adoration with Jesus as a young boy. Jesus on a stylised band of clouds, holding a cross in his right hand. St. Francis kneels on an altar step before a small rococo table. The table bearing the opened Holy Scripture and flowers. In a modern frame and cloth-covered, wooden mount. Slight damage due to age. Knocks in the marble. The right hand of St. Francis also knocked. Parts of the lower border have been lost. Two visible cracks, both restored. Dimensions of the frame 44 x 37.5 cm and the relief 28.5 x 21.5 cm.Condition: III
