Description
A hand drawing in pencil on paper, circa 1918, after Amedeo Modigliani (1884-1920). Purportedly a portrait of Beatrice Hastings, pen name of Emily Alice Haigh (1879-1943). Bears signature lower right. Work accompanied by a letter from Benedict L. Nicholson, London, Editor of the Burlington Magazine, dated January 1950 noting the characteristics of the drawing and provenance. Below is a notation which reads “From the British Who’s Who Lionel Benedict Nicholson, editor of the Burlington Magazine Introduction to Cezanne 1946, introduction to Modigliani 1947, The Painter of France in 1950”. Unframed. Provenance: From the estate of Academy Award winning actor Jose Ferrer (1912-1992).
