Attributed to François-Désiré Froment-Meurice (1802-1855)
enameled, gem-set and silver match holder
France
silver, light blue enamel, hardstones
engraved mark "Froment Meurice"
vertical rectangular form with canted corners, the finial depicting a winged putto holding torches atop a globe, birds of paradise handles flank the case, mythological plaques and masks adorn the front and back, and the whole is raised on four fire-breathing dragon form feet; when the domed lid is opened by pressing the front mask a spring-loaded quadripartite interior raises

Condition
Varying degrees of tarnish in areas throughout with old polish residue and grime in crevices. Enamel appears to be intact throughout without any evident issues. All the gems are intact and appear to be original.
