Catalog Note:
While most Rookwood silver overlay was added by electroplating, a select few pieces are known to have delicate, finely woven sterling strapping, such as this Strafer example. While some Japanese ceramics bear this type of woven silver overlay, there is no evidence to suggest that Rookwood works of this sort were produced in Japan or by Japanese artisans in America. The silver overlay on these unusual Rookwood examples is both intricate and complex and always fits the form perfectly.

Fine overall crazing with one tiny glaze pimple on the side. No chips, cracks or repairs.
