Chinese Zitan Carved Dragon Throne Chair. The Chair is made of a single piece of first-class Zitan hardwood huge rectangular timber and thick. Ornately open-works carved backrest, wide rectangular hard mat and both arms panel carved with wanzi, ruyi and imperial dragon. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigour and fecundity, the Li-shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. Is also the most important of the four super natural creatures in Chinese mythology. The whole supported on legs of rectangles square section joined by stepped stretchers on hoofed foot. This Chinese chairs gives a strong and antique impression of luxury. Zitan is an extremely dense wood which sinks in water. It is a member of the rosewood family and is botanically classified in the Pterocarpus genus. The lumber is blackish-purple in hue, and its fibers are loaded with deep red pigments which have been used for dye throughout the ages. The entirety is encased in amazing relief carving which gives this throne a captivating appearance.

Over all in EXCELLENT condition. Some stress of wear. Natural wood imperfection, wood joint mark, minor scratches and dents. Normal consider ages and wears.
