Description

Title: Early 20th C Ceramic majolica pitcher apple blossom design

Dimension: 6 1/2" (16.5 cm) tall x 6" (15.2 cm) wide. 3 5/8" (9.2 cm) diameter.

Additional Information: A well molded ceramic pitcher that has a pastel design of apple branches with apple blossoms and leaves, and a faux wood handle.

A heavy low fired ceramic that has been molded with a design of branches, leaves and apple blossoms.
There are mold lines down the front and back. The pitcher has a wide circular mouth that tapers to a spout. There is a thin, smooth, and shiny glaze coating. The glaze has a fine crazing and some colors have run slightly below the leaves and the flowers. The colors are muted with a nice pastel look. There is a shallow foot that is not glazed. The base is glazed.

There are no marks or labels.

MEASUREMENTS
6 1/2" (16.5 cm) tall x 6" (15.2 cm) wide. 3 5/8" (9.2 cm) diameter. Weighs 1 lb 9.4 oz (715 g)

CONDITION
There is a chip in the glaze on the bottom portion of the handle. There are a few places at the mouth, base, and a few tiny places on the body where the glaze is missing. There is a darker area near the spout but I think this is a color painting flaw, as it matches the pale brown of the handle. There are no breaks or cracks.

An old piece of majolica with an interesting shape and color palette that will be a nice addition to your majolica collection or your shabby chic dÃ©cor.
