Traces the company's history from the scattered lines that were merged to become the IR, its expansion and glory years with the highspeeds, its struggles to remain financially viable, the strike of 1937 and the eventual bankruptcy that led to its sale and transition to bus service. Also covers its freight service including the isolated lines to the Binkley Mine, the Western Indiana Gravel Co., and the Southern Indiana Railway.
