Description
11th-5th century BC. A group of eight gold beads and jewellery elements: two stylised dolphins flanking a suspension loop; a sheet-gold disc; a turquoise stone in gold setting; a bifacial comma-shaped sheet-gold piece with applied piriform cells and pierced pink garnet bead; ribbed tubular bead; spherical bead with granulated chevrons; twin cuboids with raised lozengiform cells; conjoined filigree lozenges. 3.33 grams total, 5-14mm (1/4 - 1/2"). Ex important Japanese collection of jewellery, 1970s-2010; accompanied by an old cataloguing ticket. Such elements would once have formed part of grander ensembles, such as bracelets, earrings, rings or necklaces. [8]
