Description
Exceptional Ancient Egyptian Bronze Figure of Isis Nursing the Infant Horus with Inlaid Eyes, ca. 26th Dynasty, 664-525 B.C. Isis, the protectress, typifies the maternal virtues of the female. Horus was the son of Isis and Osiris wearing his hair in the lock of youth. The goddess is seated with her right hand on her left breast, her feet resting on a small angled footstool, wearing a tripartite wig, cobra headdress surmounted by horned solar disk.
This outstanding quality bronze boasts a beautiful dark green and reddish brown patina with Isis still having almost all its original inlaid eyes (left missing a tiny fragment.) Her feet, hands and cobra headdress exhibit excellent detail. Free from repairs, only the left horn is missing its tip flanking the solar disk.
Figure stands 7" tall and sits on a custom wooden stand. An immensely appealing antiquity. Estimated Value $5,000 - 8,000
