Description
U.S. 19th Century Covers and Cancels. 1870-1930 mounted collection of over 25 covers and a single page of cancellations on stamps on paper. The covers are uncatalogued and unsearched, although three are addressed to William Acheson, inventor, and assistant to Thomas A. Edison, with an 1881 cover addressed and mailed to him at the Universal Exposition of Electricity, in Paris, in care of M. Thos. A. Edison. It was at this exposition that Edison’s incandescent lamps were extensively tested and compared to others and deemed the most efficient.
