Footnote:
The Hellenistic or Roman grey-black marble versions of these bronzes were discovered in 1736 by Monsignor Furietti at Hadrians Villa. Models were produced in large numbers beginning in the late 18th century, both as miniature bronzes and life-size marble and plaster versions.

Condition
With an overall dark brown patina to surfaces. With marks, nicks, ding, dents, scuffs, scrapes, wear and old restorations. Club broken off at left fist of one - at site of previous restorations. Opposite forearm appears to have been restored. Tail restored. Scraped loss of patina over left shoulder. Probably re-patinated to cover old restorations.
