Set of Catalin Handled Vintage Flatware, Most are marked La Panthere Inoxy Dable, a few marked Aux 2-Lions InoxyDable and a couple marked Le Leopard Garanti Inoxy Dable. Light butterscotch Catalin handles with nickel embossed accent and Stainless steel. C. 1930s Set includes 12 fish forks , 6.5 in. 11 Luncheon/ butter spreaders, 7 in. 5 dinner knives, 10 in. 4 luncheon knives, 8 in. A few fractures within the catalin, consistent with use and age. About: Catalin is the most important of the vintage collectible plastics. Catalin resin was invented in 1928 by Oskar Pantke of New York. Catalin was known as the gem of plastics; named catalin for its many ‘catalytic’ reactions during manufacture. Collectors often use the term bakelite instead of catalin, yet bakelite was usually molded, while catalin was generally made in rods or sheets and then machine cut or carved.
