Jose De Zamora (Spanish, 1889-1971) Framed Gouache on board, Woman clothed in colorful ethnic garb, holding vegetables and eggs at a street market. Signed Jose De Zamora (lower left) 4lbs Better known as Pepito Zamora, was a costume designer, draftsman and occasional Spanish writer. He studied in Paris with Paul Poiret and designed in art deco style the line of Georges Barbier. He was friends with the writers Ãlvaro Retana and Antonio de Hoyos y Vinent, and the dancer Tórtola Valencia. José Padilla instructed him to illustrate covers of the scores that the composer edited in Paris. He died in Sitges, shortly after Retana died in Madrid. The editorial Renaissance of Seville, published in 2012 four novelitas reunited under the title of Princesses of coven and other erotic stories. Approx.
