In 1908 the family moved to ÄŒabar (Gorski Kotar) where the father opened a photographic studio. In 1920 he continued his education at the high school in Zagreb; his drawing teacher was Zlatko Å ulentić. In 1927 enrolled to the sculpture department at Zagreb Academy of Arts. That year he was first arrested for illegal political work. Enrolled in the painting department, his Teachers were: Mark Waugh, Vladimir Becic, Tomislav Krizman, Ljubo Babic and Marino Tartaglia. Studied at the Academy of Paris on a scholarship from the French government. He was a member of the group Earth, the group advanced Croatian artists, one of the founders of the group March, founder of the group Ars. Founded the left-wing folk theater in Zagreb (1931), a subsidiary ULUH in Rijeka (1946), and the Gallery of Fine Arts in Rijeka (1948) to 1951. He worked as a director in the Karlovac theater as a set designer at the National Theatre in Zagreb, as a teacher of art education at the SuÅ¡ak Gymnasium as a teacher at the Academy of Applied Arts in Zagreb. In 1951 as chief editor for illustrations and equipment encyclopedic issues at the Yugoslav Lexicographic Institute. He wrote art reviews for the Journal and struggle. President LIKUM from 1955 to 1957, president of the Zagreb Centre of the European Society of Culture in Croatia (S.E.C.) and a member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Approx.
