Condition
Fabulous pair in overall good condition.
One cover with a 1" and a 3/4" loss to the lower edge; the other cover generally good with scattered dings to the edge.
The urn rims with typical wear and dings to the interior rim edges. Both urns generally good. One urn with well-integrated restorations above and below the ormolu floral swag-mounted shoulder (see example on right in online photo). The inherent complexities of this type of marble make it difficult to differentiate between restorations and the marble's typical characteristics.
Both with scattered shallow minor surface scuffs and scratches..
Both urns are mounted on a thin bronze sheet.
The finely cast gilt-bronze decoration in excellent condition.
