Description

A scene of the Doncaster Races, Race For The Great St. Ledger Stakes, 1836, titled "Joy & Desperation - All Over but Settling". Originally painted by James Pollard and engraved by J. Harris. James Pollard (1792-1867) would be well known for his equine scenes as well as his mail coach and fox hunting pieces. Bottom of art is marked "London, Published May 24th, 1837, by Ackerman & Co. 96 Strand". This piece is an older print. Some minor staining present on art piece. Frame has some minor wear on corners. Part of a very nice 4 piece set. Overall good condition. Frame measures 24"T x 34"W. See photos.
