Description
Late 19th century, with four scrolled feet, open shell decorated handles and a body with repousse floral decoration and a scalloped top edge. The piece belonged to and is from the family of Charles Augustus Leale (1842 –1932) who was the first doctor to arrive at the presidential box at Ford's Theatre on April 14, 1865 after John Wilkes Booth fatally shot President Abraham Lincoln. The bottom is inscribed, "C.A. Leale".
