Description
Built first for Louis XVI, this gorgeous piece was then re-created by Bennamn whose style was then copied by other manufacturers. It dates back to probably the first half of the 20th century. With a 1.5" thick black marble top mounted over light brown veneer on probably mahogany with heavy ormolu or gilt bronze (tested with the magnet) decorated in a laurel leaf. Two cabinets, one on each side and two large doors decorated with a gilded bronze mask surrounded by a beautiful heavily gilded bronze display of javelins and quivers. A perfect replica of the original by Bennamn! Measures 61" in length, has a height of 37.5" and depth of 23.5". The measurements might be on-off 1/2". Missing the key! This is the only fault. It is very heavy supported by four bronze lion paws. Together with the marble weighs over 200 lbs. less. View measures 3/4" X 4"This lot has a reserve. Local pick-up of freight shipping from Burbank, CA.
