GORHAM AND GEORGE SHIEBLER REPOUSSE STERLING ARTICLES, LOT OF EIGHT, comprising a set of six "American Beauty" butter pats by George W. Shiebler & Co. of New York City, NY with repousse flower border along rims and personalized engraving to center, and two pieces by Gorham Mfg. Co. of Providence, RI with repousse floral decoration and personalized engravings consisting of a small rectangular tray with a worn date mark and a soap box with a 1895 date mark. Each piece with "STERLING" and maker's marks, butter pats with retailer's marks for Hennegan, Bates & Co. of Baltimore, MD. Total weight: 10.565 ozt. Late 19th century. Tray 5 3/8" x 4 3/4".
Condition
Very good overall condition with some wear, surface scratches, and other imperfections including dents, worn spots to raised decoration, and/or nicks; soap box with slight bending causing the lid and base to be slightly askew, pin for hinge slightly sticking out but secure.
