Description
ADRIAN CHARLES PROSPER D'EPINAY (FRENCH, 1836-1914) BRONZE PAIR OF GARDEN BUSTS, each hollow-form depicting a lady wearing a bonnet, one example wearing a cross, possibly Charlotte Corday, the other a necklace, each marked "D. Epinay 1879 Fonderia Nelli, Rome". Lacking bases. Old weathered surfaces with verdigris patination. Circa 1879. 24 1/2" and 25" H.
Provenance: From the Joseph and June Hennage collection, to benefit the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
One purchased from Bryce George Muir, Higganum, CT, 1/10/1970.
