Signed and inscribed by Eliza London Shepard on a blank page at front: "Dear Steward-Oliver, all love to [Jon?] and I wish that you will enjoy reading this book and other books by my brother when you are older. Eliza London Shepard, May 22nd, 1930." Eliza Shepard was Jack London's beloved step-sister who came to the ranch in 1910, acting as the ranch superintendent and continued until her death in 1939. With a photograph of Jack London mounted to the front free endpaper, and his wolf's head bookplate mounted on the front pastedown. Features alternate cover image of three howling wolves by Bransom.
