Cougar Statue is signed BOULTON & Marked DAMA NO 386. Statue is bronze & depicts a cougar standing on a boulder. Piece appears to be vintage possibly antique. Statue measures approx 9.5 inches tall 10 inches deep 6 inches wide. Underside has green toned felt. Bronze, bronze cougar, Joseph lorkowski boulton, signed bronze, bronze feline, bronze animal. Joseph Boulton was a sculptor, painter, teacher and taxidermist and was especially known for his talents in depicting animals and his studies of Indians. His father was a carpenter, and he became interested in modeling and building from working with his dad. In 1915, he went to New York as a student at the National Academy of Design, where he teacher was sculptor Herman Atkins MacNeil. During World War I, he served in France in the Marine Corps, and then returned to studies with MacNeil at the Art Students
