Description
"Intra Muros", by Rebecca Ruter Springer, published by David C. Cook Publishing Co., 1898, illustrated. First Edition, First Printing with publishing, copyright information and the "Preface" on the same page. [The unusual character of the 'title page' reflects the uncommon contents of the book].
Hard boards, 3/4 green cloth [moderate edge and corner wear]; 8vo, 7.3/4" x 9.3/4"; 96 pages, many b/w illustrations, there is a dark bar at the bottom of the title page, this bar also affected the endpaper [see photo]; a little wear and soiling, very good condition.
At a time before popular discussion of and research into near death and after life experiences was in the popular consciousness, Rebecca Springer courageously and faithfully penned this account of her own passing "into the light.
Rebecca Ruter Springer (1832-1904) was an American author. She began to publish verses shortly after finishing school, and thereafter contributed to leading periodicals. Among her works is the book "Intra Muros", better known today as "My Dream of Heaven". As the modern name implies, Springer claimed to have a vision of a heaven, and she recounts this vision in her book as well as some personal insights.
