Description
A pair ancient stone scarabs. Lot includes a nice Egyptian scarab in a translucent green stone, New Kingdom, c. 1570 - 1075 BC, perhaps olivine, with well-carved body and smooth base, likely originally used as jewelry. 12.5 x 9 mm. The second is a Levantine black steatite scarab, c. 1000 - 600 BC, with a horse or antelope incised on the base; drilled lengthwise for suspension. 16 x 14 mm. Ex collection of Peter Cheremisinoff, NJ.
