Description
Offered in this lot is a maquette (soft clay working sculpture pre bronze) of an Indian brave on a buffalo hunt by James Pasma. James Pasma's (1933-1999) creative work was primarily inspired by the 1950s; his passion and his financial success were bronze statues. His work sells for thousands of dollars apiece. Pasma grew up in Havre, Montana area. This maquette has some damage, but is unique in that maquettes rarely leave the artist’s possession and are often destroyed when the bronze is cast. The fact this maquette is painted is also rare. Where there is damage, it allows you to see the process of how the bison went from a wood block and wire to the image of a wild powerful animal. This is a unique, rarely seen step in the journey to a piece of bronze art. The pieces are mounted on a painted wood block that measures 12 1/4" x 3 1/2" x 1 1/2" and has a total height of 7". This item will likely become damaged more during shipping. Please see photos for accurate assessment of current damage.
