A very nice Chinese silver and horn cane. The silver knob handle is 1 1/2" high and 3/4" in diameter. It has a smooth top with sides that are decorated in repousse with a palace garden scene showing a seated sage or nobleman, along with servants. The straight shaft is a long, single piece of worked horn, perhaps bovine, with old evidence of minor surface larvae activity. The piece ends with a 2/3" brass ferrule. The overall length is 33 1/2" and the condition is very good. It is perhaps English, fashioned with an imported handle, ca 1890. It is a fine example of the kind. Estimate: $700-$900.
