Item Details

Description

A very nice carved claw with pear cane. The rosewood handle is 3" high and 1 1/2" at its widest. It depicts an oval pear being grasped by a detailed bird's claw that has four talons with ivory tips. There is a 1/4" gold ring collar that is engraved: "W.W.Clapp". The shaft is rosewood carved for its entire length in angled fluting. The piece terminates with a 1 1/2" white metal and iron ferrule. The overall length is 35 1/3" and the condition is excellent. It is American, ca 1890, and it is an elegant decorative example. Estimate: $700-$900.
