Description
A large Central Asian glass medallion depicting a sacrificial scene, c. 7th - 10th Century AD, in yellow-brown and depicts a bearded man wearing a kilt, axe over his left shoulder, a ram he is about to sacrifice before him, a smaller animal to left, the forepart of another ram to right. Dia: 4.7 cm. A nice example with light deposits. Cf. Carboni and Whitehouse, "Glass of the Sultans", pp. 50-52 depicts three large glass medallions of similar composure, Sasanian and Post-Sasanian, as well as Carboni, "Glass from Islamic Lands", 2001, pp. 272-278 for discussion and examples of similar medallions.
