EQUUS Theater Advertisement Poster, no apparent inscriptions or markings to piece, subject a cubist style horse with ‘EQUUS’ lettering, measures 14 1/8 x 22 3/4 inches, encased in acrylic framing, surface wear to frame, professionally framed, partially exposed to reverse, not examined out of frame. Property of Paris, France Estate. From Paris to New York by family descent. Born in 1935, Gilbert Lesser was predominantly inspired by the 1950s growing up. During the Post War period, New York City became the global focus for Modernism. Throughout the Second World War, many artists had made their way to the city after having fled in exile from Europe, which culminated in a merging and amalgamation of talent and ideas. Whilst in New York, influential Europeans such as Piet Mondrian, Josef Albers and Hans Hoffmann provided inspiration for American artists, and influenced cultural maturation in the United States for many decades that followed.
