Description
Hiroshi Sugimoto (Born 1948) Japan, hand signed Photo Print. Signature lower right. Hiroshi Sugimoto is a Japanese brilliant photographer whose series of works serve as time capsules for a philosophical series of events, simultaneously capturing and exposing moments in time. The subject matter of his work serves to showcase the conflict between the permanent and the impermanent, and between life and death. He has expressed that he is deeply influenced by the works of Marcel Duchamp, and the Dadaist and Surrealist movements of the twentieth-century. Sugimoto’s works are held in many public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, MoMA in New York and both The National Gallery and Tate Gallery in London. Most recently, he was awarded Isamu Noguchi Award for Kindred Spirits in Innovation, Global Consciousness and Japanese/American Exchange.
