Description
Third quarter-18th century, cedar and fruitwood. Pierced splats, stretcher bases and legs with chamfered edges. Three board seats. Refinished with some splits and pieced repairs. 17.75" seat, 41"h. Descended in the Harvey Family, one of the early Bermuda settlers.
Condition
One missing stretcher with some edge damage, has loss to one ear, pieced repair at post and crest, old dark varnish has alligatored, four board seat, legs have some edge loss and an area of damage (appears to be from natural formation in wood) at back leg and stretcher.
One has pieced repair at post and crest, the other side of crest is loose, age splits in splat, somewhat shiny varnish surface, three board seat with chamfered unside.
One has pieced repairs to crest at splat and posts, pieced repair and splits to splat, some edge loss to feet, pieced repair where post meets back seat corner, somewhat shiny varnish surface and three board seat.
All have overall surface wear and tiny nicks. Seats are all different but fit well and appear to have good age.
