A FEDERAL MAHOGANY INLAID AND SATINWOOD CROSSBANDED SLANT FRONT DESK, LATE 18TH CENTURY, the rectangular top above a slant front-hinged mahogany panel centering an oval reserve of an inlaid maple conch shell, opening to a stained wood interior fitted with cubby holes and small drawers, over three graduated matching drawers enclosing brass handles centering brass lined keyholes and the top drawer flanked by lopers, raised on a molded base and corner ogee bracket feet, includes one key. Condition
Good restored condition with some expected scratches, normal edge nicks, age shrinkage cracks, areas of uneven patina, veneer restorations and repairs, interior is later, brass handles are later but stylistically appropriate, minor buildup, and surface wear in expected areas throughout.
